President and CEO of Supreme Doctor Consultants, LLC (SDC) that is headquartered in Southern California. The business provides consulting
advice, cash flow analysis, practice price and value assessment, lending assistance, practice coaching services and practice purchase and/or sale
guidance to the buyer and/or seller.
Prior to establishing SLC, Mr. Appel was Senior Vice President, Professional Practice Solutions for East West Bank of Pasadena, CA, a $22 billion publicly owned full-service commercial bank serving consumers and businesses throughout the U.S. and in Greater China. Mr. Appel was responsible for the development of a Professional Practice Finance Division at the Bank, including the creation of loan policies, product offerings, the hiring of experienced staff members and training. The Division represented a national proposition for healthcare financing that produced over $150 Million in loan volume within 15 months and employed 20 personnel.
Prior to East West Bank, Mr. Appel was Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer of Main Street Bank, a Texas community bank with $450 million in assets offering full banking services through branches in the Houston area. Mr. Appel developed the Professional Practice Finance Division, creating a nearly $100 million healthcare-related portfolio in 2009, its first full year of operation by the bank.
Mr. Appel was Co-Founder, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of Sky Financial Solutions. Sky Financial Solutions was sold to MBNA and then purchased by Bank of America in 2004. Bank of America Practice Solutions is the largest provided of financing to Doctors nationally. When at Sky he oversaw daily operations, managing more than 130 employees, nearly $1 billion in assets, and originating approximately $250 million in new loan volume per year.
Prior to 1996, Mr. Appel was Senior Vice President, National Sales Manager for Banc One Leasing, a subsidiary of Bank One, Columbus, Ohio where he was responsible for a 50-person sales force, marketing and selling primarily in the healthcare marketplace. From 1988 to 1992, Mr. Appel was Regional Vice President, General Manager for Eaton Financial Services, a subsidiary of AT&T, where he was responsible for all aspects of small ticket equipment leasing. He spent the first eight years of his career at AVCO Financial Services in Irvine, California where he held various management positions.
Mr. Appel owns other businesses in non-related industries. He graduated from Manhattan College in Riverdale, New York with a B.S. in education. Raised in New York, now residing in Southern California.
The Executive Vice President of Credit at Supreme Lending Consultants, LLC (SLC) where he is responsible for collecting background and financial information from Medical Professionals to assess credit worthiness.
The information is prepared in a presentation format that includes background on the Medical Practitioner, licensing, staffing, hours of operation, description of the practice location and facility, a global cash flow analysis to demonstrate sufficient cash flow from the practice to service both business and personal debt of the client. Prior to joining SLC, Mr. Kohler was an Assistant Vice President, Credit Underwriter with JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. (JPMorgan) in their JPMorgan Private Banking Sector where he processed Personal Equity Lines of Credit.
Prior to JPMorgan Mr. Kohler was an Assistant Vice President, Senior Credit Underwriter with the Huntington National Bank, N.A. (Huntington) in their SBA unit where he processed requests for small business loans. Prior to Huntington, Mr. Kohler was an Assistant Vice President with Main Street Bank, underwriting loans for the professional practice finance division. He joined Main Street Bank in January 2009.
Before joining Main Street Bank, Mr. Kohler was a Senior Vice President, Credit Officer with Midwest Business Capital a Division of United Midwest Savings Bank (Midwest). While at Midwest, Mr. Kohler prepared SBA and Commercial credit requests for Credit Committee decisions. He was also responsible for collections and workouts with a staff of 4. A primary responsibility was making demand to the SBA to honor their guarantee. Mr. Kohler joined Midwest in August of 2007. Prior to Midwest Mr. Kohler was with Bank of America Financial Solutions (BoA) from October 1998 where he was a Senior Vice President, Credit Manager with up to 10 people reporting to him in the healthcare finance division. Other responsibilities included auditing portfolios of loans that were to be securitized and was directly involved with auditors that were reviewing the portfolios on behalf of the investors.
Prior to BoA, Mr. Kohler was an Assistant Vice President with Banc One Leasing Corporation a subsidiary of Banc One Corporation (BOLC) from October 1987 to October 1998.
Mr. Kohler received a BA in History and Political Science from the University of Wisconsin – Superior. In addition, Mr. Kohler, has taken various courses in credit and collections, credit and financial analysis and accounting over the course of his career.
